A few weeks ago, O and I had the opportunity to go see Neil Diamond LIVE. Some close friends invited us to ride in a Limo to dinner and then on to the show.
First, although I've never gone out of my way to listen to any Neil Diamond music, I am VERY familiar with it. My mom bout wore out that "Hot August Night" 8-Track tape! And I am a child of the 70's and 80's...And sure, whenever I do hear a familiar song, it's fun. I would have never admitted that though LOL!
So we were just kinda "eh, whatever" about going. We were mostly looking forward to partying in the Limo. Which turned out to be a Challenger Limo/Disco Bar on Wheels! LOL!
The really neat thing about the concert was that there were people from all generations there. Parents and their grown children attending together, some for the umpteenth time. And when he walked out on the stage, all the women of all ages were screaming as if Elvis, or The Beatles had come out. [Overheard in the crowd: "Ain't no amount of Viagra in this world gonna fix that shit!" gesturing to his screaming & swooning female companion...LOL!]
I dunno how, at 74 years old, this guy does what he does. His voice is ageless. What an awesome concert... Probably one of the very best shows I've ever been to. So Good! So Good! So Good! *ahem...sorry* LOL!!!
Anyway, it took two whole weeks to get the Neil Diamond tunes out of my head...
We really had a great time...we ALL had a really great time! From the Limo ride, dinner, show, after show Limo

Sounds like you had a great time. Neil Diamond has one of those voices that appeals to almost everyone. I certainly have always appreciated his unique sound. Guess we're all getting older... Thanks for the post. I enjoyed reading about your night out.
Hi Nancy! Thanks so much for sticking around & commenting on my non cancer posts! I really wasn't exactly a fan...and yes, my eyeballs would just roll every time my mom put that 8-track on. But I think I secretly enjoyed listening too. I've heard it is a show of a lifetime, so we just had to go. And so glad we did. Thanks again for reading & commenting. *We will return to the regularly posted cancer rants shortly.* LOL!!! ;)
Fun! My husband and I went to a Neil Diamond concert back when we were first married, 20 years ago and even at that time he was pretty old but still rocking it out. I wasn't a huge fan either but man, he's got quite a cult following as all of the audience were singing along to every single song! My kids (17 & 19) just came back from the Firefly concert where Paul McCartney headlined and over 90,000 kids attended! Cool to think that these older performers from that era still resonate with young kids today.
Glad you did something different and fun for yourself. It helps a lot with our mood and it adds more flavor to our lives. It's healthy. I should do more of those things. You just inspired me to go to a concert this summer, why not! I am looking up who is performing in NYC. I will keep you posted!
Hi Claudia! I agree, hownawesome that wven the younger kids are appreciating the music & artists from way back! Neil drf has a cult following. My mom told us it is a "show if a lifetime" & she was right! We had a total blast! :)
Hi Rebecca! It really was something different, although going to concerts was once just a normal weekend event for me, back in the day. A major life change is happening for me (stay tuned) & I hope many for fun & different things will be a part of my life. Glad to inspire. Hope someone good is coming to your area. I thought I heard James Taylor was coming up there ? Or maybe he already did...that would be a good one. But Slayer would also be good too! Lol!!
I am going to see psychedelics furs! I love those rock bands from the 80's. I am excited about this -- something to look forward too. I don't do concerts so often but earlier this year I saw Tycho and Low Roar. I am more into ambient music now that I am older. Not sure if James T. is coming.
I hope all is well.
Oh wow! I love Psychedelic Furs!!! Hope you have a blast!! :)
Ooooo been so long since I've been to a live show of any kind--so glad you got to go do something so fun! xoxoxo
