We've all heard something along these lines:
"They (whoever 'they' are) HAVE the cure for (breast) cancer, but won't put it out there cause there's just too much money being made in the cancer business..."
Right?
Yeah. I'm guilty of saying that, too. But that was the "bc" Luna. "Before cancer" Luna. For years before I entered cancerland, I, and very indignantly too, bought into that line of thinking. I even boldly said as much right to my oncologists face. And his response was certain, matter of fact, and immediate. Not even a pause. He's heard that for years. He doesn't believe it's true. He HOPES the cure is finally discovered. He won't mind practicing in another area of medicine. Or sticking around and happily prescribing "the cure" to any and all.

Steve Jobs??!! All the money that guy had, all the fame, all that genius...could he not have secretly bought this cure for himself and still be with us today, cranking out the latest and greatest in technology? I bet he was one that could keep a secret.
And wouldn't the cure for cancer be expensive enough, that "they" could continue to make their big, big money off of it?
Or, another way to think about it....Whoever DOES bring the cure for cancer is gonna be one rich, rich, uber famous
Eh, just some rambling thoughts running around my head, as I'm reading things here, hearing things there.
No. In my opinion, there is no secret cure that's being kept from us. Especially for breast cancer, at least. I think breast cancer is just so complex, so many different diseases, that we just aren't there yet. We're getting closer, that much is evident. But still no cure.
Damnit!

I used to really believe that--but now don't really think so...after reading your post. I love your blog and love you. Mom
I agree, I don't think anyone has a clue about how to cure it. I think we're closer to at least understanding how it gets triggered but I believe that we're still years and even decades away from finding a vaccine or cure. But, I'm ever the optimist, so am hopeful.....!
Hi Claudia! I think you are right. We are soooo far from the elusive cure. But we are getting better at fighting it, so there's that. I guess. It sucks. Eff cancer! Thanks so much for reading my blog & sharing your thoughts. xx
Thanks Mom! Love you too!
You make a lot of sense. I'd often thought of Steve Jobs during my own cancer treatment. There are some things money can't buy because it doesn't exist.
Hey Eileen!! I agree with you. The cure just doesn't exist. This stupid ass bc is just too complex...too many different things going on... Thanks so much for poppin by & commenting & stuff. xx
I used to think that way, long ago. Then I started reading a lot about cancer and how complex it really is. Because it is very, very complex. I mean this thing can evolve, change their diets...they want to survive too. And every cell from our body parts/organs behaves differently, one reason why there is a different chemo for every type of cancer.
This illness is so old and in a way it is sad they haven't figured out why it happens. Or better yet, find a cure. I think the problem is we don't know why it metastasizes. If the damn cell can stay in one place, then we would be alright.
But we have more survivors than ever before. For that, I am grateful. We are moving in the "right direction" especially with the most recent developments on genetic compositions and using one's own immune system to fight cancer. However, we need more funding (for stage 4).
Cancer seems to be moving faster than scientists can keep up with.
UGH.
Hi Rebecca!
Yep, I agree with everything you said. We DEF need to figure out and stop the mets. Thanks so much for reading and commenting!
