Hair Regrowth Update

Ok, so just a quickie hair regrowth after chemo update.  Here it is today, 19 1/2 months from the last chemo.

I'm pretty much just lettin it do the chemo curl & headband thing while I continue to grow it out.  After a day or so, I blow out the curls & do the ponytail. So now I'm just on a grow out mission.  Not gonna cut it again till that shortest top layer has reached my jaw.  About 3 more inches I think.

On another note, we saw some cool Halloween stuff in a store today!  YAY!  Sooooo ready for fall.  Yep.

2 Years Today

So today is a bit of a milestone for me.  Two years ago today, the awesome Dr V performed the second lumpectomy & got the clear margins. So I am 2 years "cancer free" today.  Ok, so they don't really like to say "cancer free".  Or even remission just yet.  So they say NED.  So I been "dancin with NED" for 2 years.  (No Evidence of Disease for y'all not hip on the cancer lingo.)  BUT...I am reserving the celebration until this next upcoming flurry of medical visits & tests confirm that.  And why is it a milestone?  Well, the docs all tell me that "most of the time" if it's gonna come back, it'll do it within 2 years.  But the BIG milestone is the 5 year mark.

Yep, here we go again....starting next month, another round of pokin, proddin, squashin, testin & all.  First the 6 month chest x-ray, followed by the 3 month visit with the Oncologist, Dr W, which includes blood work.  Then the 6 month mammogram followed by the 6 month visit with Dr V.  And so long as they all say "it's all good", THEN we will sho.

But, I still have another couple of weeks before I have to think (stress & obsess?) about that.  So not gonna.

Other than that, gettin pretty damn sick of this stupid 100+ degree heat every-single-frakkin-day.  We just can't catch a break.  At all.  And no end in sight.  Rain dance anyone?

Back To Life, Back To Reality....

Yes, all good things must come to an end.  We sure did enjoy our vacation.  And so what's been goin on during the couple of weeks it took me to get my Vacation Series all blogged out?  OMG.  Ever heard the expression "too much reality"?  Yeah.  It actually started the day before we left on vacation, with air conditioner issues resulting in an (expensive) after hours service call.

Upon return from vacation, we find the garbage disposal is leaking.  Yep.  Water just streaming out of the bottom.  We knew it was goin out.  And had been wanting to replace the sink for awhile anyway, so 1st day back & we're doin sink/disposal tear out/install.  Luckily, O has some plumbing experience & knows how to do all this.  And a fine job too.  Looks great.

Couple of days later, on the way home from a shoot....late at night.  Ran a skunk over.  OMG.  There was NO avoiding it.  Like he pulled the Geico squirrel commercial know, where they wait till just the right second to run right out in front of the car.  Talk about stink.  Instantaneous gawd awful stink.  And since it's after midnight, we just went home.  Probably shouldn't have parked in the garage, but did anyway.  Yeah.  Stunk up the garage, & the laundry room.

First thing the next morning, after a major car wash, complete with undercarriage spray & under the hood sprayin, still stinky.  But we quickly got it under control.  Let me brag about a couple of great products.  First:  Zero Odor.  This stuff is awesome.  Knocked down the skunk smell 100%.  This is great great stuff.  If it can handle skunk smell, you KNOW it can handle most regular household or cooking odors.  Yeah.  Love this stuff.  And for good measure, we got some of these Odor Absorbing Bags & put one in the trunk & one inside the car, where they remain still.  Sorry, no pic of those.  But they look like mesh bags with little light color rocks inside.  I've used them for years in closets & stuff.  Great great great!  Planning on takin them out of the car in a day or two & see what happens.

And the heat.  Jeez, we just can't catch a break.  Just makes everything so difficult.  Don't wanna turn on any cooking appliance.  And there's no end in sight.  Yay.

And we continue to deal with a bit of a stressful situation...& I don't want to be bloggin about all that just yet.  But yeah, more reality.

Finally, welcome new subscribers! *waves* I hope you enjoy my blog.  You'll read a lot about my hair issues, my breast cancer stuff, & my medical appointment freak outs.   And just general randomosity.  (Is that even a word?)

Vacation - Part 5: A Fish Tale

After a nice time at the beach, we headed back to get cleaned up for our last dinner in town.  And we went to a VERY awesome restaurant called Fish Tales.  Best. Shrimp. EVER.  And I think it's now one of my new fave place to go when we visit, right up there with Spanky's.  And it's like, 5 minutes from my mom's house, AND right on water, which I love.  Anyway, we had a very good dinner & some cocktails.  And the sun was setting, so I ran out to grab what I think is one of the best sunset pics ever taken by an old BlackBerry camera.  Yep.  Check it!

Was a really really nice vacation.  And we totally needed one.  But it just went by too damn fast.  There were some friends I had hoped to get together with that I didn't get to, due to losing part of our trip because of the stupid airline fiasco.  And we had also wanted to get together with the family more than the one time too, but again, time just flew.  I think next time we need to schedule to be there for at least 2 -3 more days.  I dunno.

The plane rides back home were awful.  Bumpy bumpy bumpy & had to navigate around weather, extending one of the flights by 45 minutes.

Yeah, I need to learn how to be a better flyer & try to go at least 3 times a year.  We can't wait to go back.

Vacation - Part 4: Life's A Beach!

So, our last day in town, we made it down to the beach, Tybee Island.  I loooove Tybee.  Such a fun beach community.  I totally could (wish) live there.  On the way, we spotted the famous Uncle Bubba's Oyster House restaurant.  Of course we had to stop & have lunch.  Soooooooo good! We started with the Shore Is Good Seafood Dip.  Yep.  Shore was GOOOOOD.  For lunch I had the Crab Cakes with Savannah Red Rice. O got blackened shrimp & collards.  Both also AWESOME.  Yeah, been thinkin bout it ever since.

So, after eating WAY too much, we continued on to the beach.  But again, it was just SO DAMN HOT! Unseasonably hot.  So we didn't stay very long.  But I did get to put meh feets in the water & take a few pics.

Next, the last installment in my vacation bloggin....A Fish Tale.

Vacation - Part 3: Things'll Be Great When You're DOWNTOWN......

Next day we headed back downtown to browse some shops & just play around in the Historic District, drive the Squares, & take the pic in front of Mercer House like we always do.  It was waaaaay hot though, so we didn't stay as long as we usually do.  The fountain in Forsyth Park was not on, so didn't get the picture of that.  But we did try Five Guys Burgers & Fries.  OH. EM. GEE. SOOOO good.  We really love hangin out Downtown. So here's a few pics.
